Swing Dance Calgary is proud to support Toe Tappin’ Swing as a significant addition to Calgary’s swing dance scene. They will be running regular classes throughout the year. Check out the class schedule or talk to Matthew Isenor at a dance.
On U of C campus during the school year? The UofC Swing Dance Club runs weekly lessons, so them give a browse.
Alberta Inspiration Saturday – Balboa!
Bringing you inspiration from your beloved local instructors, we are so excited to share this day with you at our old swing stomping grounds.

Class Schedule:
10:00 – 11:00am: Find Your Feet, open floor time
If you need a little extra time to warm up in the morning, this is your chance! Come get your bal-shuffle started and get ready for the day.
11:00 – 12:30pm: Polish and Push It with Glenn & Nicole
Since basic patterns get boring fast, this class will use some of the basic steps to make musicality make sense. Requirements include having two feet and the ability to count to two, three, four and eight……But don’t be fooled – this will be a challenging class by the end.
Prerequisites: Should be familiar with closed basic, come around, throwout, lollies, crossovers, crabwalks and paddles. Review the 4 “Basics” videos on the Basement Balboa Sessions Facebook group if uncertain.12:45 – 1:45pm: Looking Good, Feeling Good with Darryl & Kim
Balboa can be a small and simple dance, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do fancy moves too. We’ll show you how to take some of your Balboa staples and spice them up!
Prerequisites: Come around, throw out and lollies. Prior knowledge of looking and/or feeling good is recommended, but not required.1:45 – 2:30pm: Lunch
2:30 – 3:30pm: To Bal-Finity and Beyond with Amber & Tom
There are an infinite amount of ways you can move in Bal; we’ll be showing you some cool ideas to get you started!
Prerequisites: Must know come around, throwout, lollies and crossovers. Behind-the-back throwout recommended for more advanced moves, but not required.3:30 – 5:00pm: Balboa Potluck Open Session with All Instructors
Evening Dance: Come enjoy an evening of dancing Balboa with our local gypsy jazz band, The Fedora Club! Beginner lesson at 8:15pm. General Admission at 9:00pm. $17 in advance, or $20 at the door.
Cost: $60 for the full day, including the evening dance. $15 per individual class.
Registration: Payment will be collected in cash or cheque in advance, at the door or use the PAYPAL button below. If paying cash at the door, please register in advance by emailing info@swingdancecalgary.com with your name, what classes you’ll be taking, and whether you’re a lead or follow.
